Thomasville site is now completed but still waiting on a few more pieces of equipment, (hopefully in about a week) to be fully functional. Currently there is limited TV available, channels 4, 18, 7 and 9. When the new equipment arrives the balance of available TV stations will be available and broadband will be ready to start up. Thomasville Site Construction
The Thomasville site construction will begin on August 2nd as originally planned. However, in order to meet the condensed construction schedule, staff plan to bring the Thomasville site offline and commence decommissioning of old equipment starting this Thursday, July 29th, for the site to be fully prepared for demolition on Monday.
Upper Red Work – July 2021
Work on the Upper Red equipment shelter is beginning today, a few days ahead of schedule. This will take down 8 radio stations for about 2 weeks as remodel and repair work progresses in the shelter. KVOV 101.5 will continue to be broadcast from the Pitkin County jail tower.
New PBS TV Channel
Rocky Mountain PBS has added a new subchannel to their OTA feed. Channel 18-3 Create/World has split, and is now broadcast as 18-3 Create, 18-4 World. Viewers may need to rescan their televisions to pick up the additional channel.
Upper Red Remodel – Summer 2021
The Upper Red remodel is tentatively planned to start on July 12, 2021 and is expected to take two weeks to complete. The entire site will be down during the remodel and all FM translator stations will be off air with the exception of KVOV 101.5 (Colorado Public Radio).
The Thomasville site build is tentatively planned to start on August 2, 2021 and is expected to take three weeks to complete. County is required to decommission the old site prior to building the new tower and shelter. Therefore the entire site will be down during the rebuild and all TV translator stations will be off the air.
Ruedi Tower Site Rebuild Complete
The new communications site above Ruedi Reservoir is complete! It will provide Broadband, Public Safety Radio and FM Radio to the Upper Frying Pan and Ruedi areas.
